ARCHITECTURE AND DETAILS

I'm drawn to the interplay of color, form, and light found in nature. My work is an attempt to manipulate these three elements to create exaggerations and impressions of natural forms that I have directly observed. Painting on site "Plein Aire" is the most exhilarating experience! All of my intuition and formal trainings come into play.  See my Maine Paintings for some of these.

Artists that inspire me include Hans Hoffmann, Georgia O'Keeffe, Edward Hopper, and Vincent (VanGogh, and Cacace). and the

 Dutch Masters. 

COLOR... More than any other element, COLOR has a direct and immediate effect on us, on the emotional, intellectual, and psychological levels.  It's interesting to me that color has so much to do with our well-being.  I hope to depict color and forms in Nature that bring a feeling or rememberance.

 I make  time to focus on my painting when I travel to places near and far, paintbox and easel in tow, searching for inspiration.  My sojourns have taken me to over 40 countries around the world.  I am one lucky artist!

Trained in painting at the

School of the Museum of Fine Arts 

in Boston, Massachusetts.   I earned my Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Art degrees from the Museum School and Tufts University.

I have been fortunate that my passion for art-making has also been my career for over 30 years as an art educator working in international schools in Europe and Asia.
